Jia Oberoi is a student at the Amity International School, Noida, where she studies English, Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Physical Education. Deeply interested in the potential of sciences and psychology to decipher human potential and foster holistic development, Jia’s interdisciplinary academic inclinations extend to her interest in diverse domains, including the tenets of healthcare, technology, and business management. As a young student who holds empathy and sensitivity as values close to her heart, Jia envisions a future where every individual, regardless of their identity, finds a safe space to be themselves,, and this is the aim that informs her thoughts and actions every day. Outside the classroom, Jia can be found writing poetry, experimenting with visual art, reading, researching, and writing about the intersecting fields of science, technology, psychology, and management. She is a proud Finalist and recipient of the Merit Award for the John Locke Global Essay Competition for her essay on depression and anxiety amongst the youth and also emerged as the Winner of the Northeastern University London Essay Competition in the Psychology category. Building on these experiences, Jia also completed the credit-bearing 'Multicultural Psychology' course offered by Yale Summer Sessions to better inform her understanding of the myriad ways in which Psychology, culture, race, and mental health interact.
